The mother monster is well and truly back with her second full length studio album, 'Born This Way'. This may be the most hotly anticipated release of this year, and trust me, it lives up to that title. Filled with absolute club corkers and sweet soulful ballad-like songs, this lets us know that Lady Gaga is undoubtedly the greatest pop icon of the decade.
'Born This Way' is the first single and title track off the album. It scored numbers ones around the world, in more than eighteen different countries and broke world records. 'Judas' was the second single and didn't come without the controversy. Some religious groups were upset with Gaga for writing the song and even demanded that she didn't release the video. Gaga didn't let the controversy surrounding the song affect it's release and it came with a resounding yes from Gaga's legion of fans.
The album opens with track, 'Marry the Night'. The song starts off with Gaga singing delicately before the bass drops and grips your attention. She shouts "I'm gonna marry the night" in an almighty roar with synths banging and pounding as the backdrop, with the songs sad undertone it takes us back to other Gaga songs, like 'Monster' and 'So Happy I Could Die'. Its a satisfying starter to this monstrous album.
'Government Hooker' opens with swaying synths whilst Gaga serenades us with her operatic voice before the futuristic beat drops and Gaga ditches opera for hooker. The songs features some fierce hooks that will get you to the dance floor and strutting down that imaginative runway like no one's watching.
'Americano' begins with a violin start, similar to that of 'Alejandro' before the drums kicks in and Gaga scream 'Wooaaah, America, Americano!'. The songs is a Spanish influenced thumper and you can't help but sing along.
'Scheiße' is a half-German pop track opening with riveting RedOne beats and a sing along chorus that will give you the opportunity to learn the line 'I am absolutely clear, I bear the name Monster' in German. With a chant-full chorus and sizzling synths, this is a guilty pleasure on the album.
'Heavy Metal Lover' is a sweet song with strong rounds of beats. Gaga voice displays a hostile and seduction flavour whilst the beat stays forceful Gaga-esque dark-electro pop. The creeping bassline grasps your attention as Gaga coo's across the chorus. Brilliance.
'Electric Chapel' starts with a electric guitar piece before leading to a hard rhythemed beat. The chorus calls upon you to meet the Lady at electric chapel. 'If you want me, meet me at Electric Chapel' Gaga tells us before the guitar solo hits and gaga commands us to meet her.
'You & I' and promo track 'The Edge Of Glory' close the album with their soulful, soft, sweet piano based powerful hits. Reminding us of 'Speechless' and showing that Gaga isn't all dance, sex and rock&roll.
The rest of the album features some, fenetic beats, big bass, loud synths and pounding chorus's that leave you wanting more Gaga. This album kicks off right where 'The Fame Monster' left off, reminding us of the greatness that is Lady Gaga.
