The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards takes place tonight, Thursday Sept 6. with a string of top performers on the bill, it looks set to be a star-studded event. Taking place at the Staples Center in L.A, the show will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart while award presenters include Miley Cyrus and One Direction.

Opening the Main show will be a performance from superstar Rihanna with help from rapper A$AP & Calvin Harris. She will be performing global hit 'We Found Love' and a remix of 'Cockiness' with the Harlem rapper.

'X Factor' USA judge, Demi Lovato will perform during the Pre-Show and will also present at the event.
Everyone is also taking about where the stars will be sitting during the show, with Rihanna, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj getting front row seats with rappers, Drake and Lil' Wayne accompanying them.
